Michal Noonan

FOUNDER, 4NP

Nurse Practitioner Advocate

Michal brings over 23 years of experience across clinical practice, academia, and health sector advisory roles, both in New Zealand and internationally.

As one of the early recipients of Nurse Practitioner (NP) accreditation in New Zealand, Michal has been a trailblazer in NP-led practice ownership. She has played a pivotal role in shaping the evolution and recognition of Nurse Practitioners within the healthcare system.

A passionate advocate for the advancement of the NP role, Michal champions the integration of Nurse Practitioners across all areas of primary care. She is committed to fostering multidisciplinary clinical teams where every member is supported and encouraged to work at the top of their scope of practice.

In addition to her clinical leadership, Michal mentors NP interns and provides clinical oversight to school-based health clinics across Auckland. Through her own primary health practice—developed in partnership with academic institutions—she supports the professional development and accreditation of future Nurse Practitioners, helping to strengthen the pathway for emerging leaders in the field.

Michal’s work continues to focus on innovation in care delivery, workforce development, and creating sustainable, high-performing primary care models.

When sharing her hard-earned insights with others, she often jokes, “We screwed up, a lot—don’t do what we did!” And yet, every misstep became a masterclass in resilience, leadership, and innovation.
