The 4NP Story: Built by Nurse Practitioners, for Nurse Practitioners

Like many meaningful ideas, 4NP took time to evolve. It began with my own steep learning curve—growing a Nurse Practitioner–owned and –operated clinic, navigating the complexities of healthcare delivery, and continuously pushing boundaries in a space not always designed for us.

As our practice grew, so did the questions from fellow NPs: “How did you do it?” “Where do I start?” “Can we catch up for a coffee?” At first, I said yes to as many as I could—grateful for those who had once helped me. But as patient demand increased, along with my responsibility to new NP graduates and staff, I realised I needed to take a page from my own business playbook.

That’s when I leaned into the cross-disciplinary skills within my team. They’ve been on this journey from the beginning, and bring with them years of expertise in business development, marketing, innovation management, and finance. Together, we formed 4NP—not just to advise, but to walk alongside Nurse Practitioners building careers outside the traditional model.

As more NPs began following the path laid by early innovators, the need for structured, lived-experience mentoring became clear. While there are services available to health professionals, none truly speak to the NP experience across the full business lifecycle.

At 4NP, we understand how daunting it can be to imagine a more sustainable, autonomous career—one that reflects your values, supports your life’s ebbs and flows, and delivers the financial equity you deserve. This path isn’t for everyone. It takes courage, clarity, and the right support system.
